True sustainability, real environmental impact, business, sustainability business

True sustainability of companies

Today, companies seek the loyalty of their target audience, but few succeed in seeing what their public expects of them. Considering the option of committing to the environment is a rather arduous task, but being green in logistics processes seems to be in vogue. However, being really sustainable implies going beyond that, it requires not only investment from the company, but also the participation and understanding of both the government, on the one hand, to create schemes with environmental initiatives and consumer awareness, on the other hand, to value the products or services with real environmental impact offered by the corporations.

It could be said that no tactics have been established to generate a definitive solution, therefore, it is necessary to implement a sustainability strategy, as well as to propose some solutions such as the dependence on fossil fuels to generate combustion and energy, the use of fossil fuel derivatives to generate industrial polymers that are difficult to degrade (plastics), the enormous dependence on industrial livestock to feed a growing population, etc.

For this reason, it is important to know that a sustainability strategy allows us to propose solutions that have an impact on the three areas of sustainability: social, economic and environmental.

In this case, these nine solutions are oriented to the environmental field.

  1. Reduces and controls energy consumption

Promote and encourage habits within your work team that have an impact on reducing energy consumption, such as turning off equipment when not in use, adjusting the temperature of the air conditioning, etc. You can also evaluate changing the systems to other more efficient ones that generate less energy consumption.

  1. Select your suppliers.

Try to hire suppliers with environmental commitment. In addition to the use of sustainable means of transport.

It would be a good option to invest in hybrid or electric vehicles, to promote the collective transport of workers, the use of public transport, likewise, the use of bicycles or walking are also actions to reduce the environmental impact of transport.

  1. Save paper.

Paper is a material used in all companies that causes different environmental problems such as deforestation, climate change, etc. Promotes the use of digital file sharing systems by reducing or overriding paper usage.

  1. Efficiently manages waste.

Companies are big generators of waste, this can be a great opportunity to practice the 3Rs: Reduce the volume of waste generated, Reuse the waste and if you do not have the possibility to make the 2 previous Recycle.

  1. Promote environmental education and training.

Carry out environmental education and training campaigns among the workers that train and raise awareness among the employees.

  1. It integrates the eco-design.

Design your products or services from an environmental point of view, taking into account the whole production process. As well as using materials from renewable sources, with low energy consumption, etc.

  1. Encourages responsible customer behaviors.

Promote responsible behaviors among your customers by carrying out some kind of promotional campaign that promotes sustainable actions.

  1. Collaborate with social actions.

With small gestures you can benefit a lot of people, as well as build a sustainable image of your company. Collaborate with entities that promote actions with a socio-environmental benefit.

  1. Measure and reduce your environmental or carbon footprint.

Companies provoke by their own activity actions that damage the environment, measure it and propose actions of minimization is necessary to be more sustainable.

This point is more difficult to manage, but you can start by managing a sustainable logistics focusing on the reduction of CO2 emitted by cargo vehicles and the reduction of plastic used in fulfillment centers and warehouses.

But what is clear is that logistics also faces the challenge of reducing its environmental impact and contributing to building a sustainable world.
